Fundraising for Calling Cape Town Challenge 2027
About Durr Steenkamp
I have been a part of the event since day one, as the organiser of the swim leg - every year I see the growth and massive impact the event has. Now it's time to challenge myself and make a difference!
My story
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” — Nelson Mandela I believe in the power of education, and I believe in the story and future of Calling Education. Having been part of the Calling Cape Town event since day one, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the growth of this event and, more importantly, the impact it has on the schools and communities it supports through Calling Education. Seeing that impact firsthand has made this cause incredibly close to my heart. I’ve always loved the idea of challenging yourself to make a difference — pushing your own limits for something bigger than yourself. After years of helping others take on this challenge, 2027 is the year I step out from behind the scenes and into the water myself. Am I stressed? YESS!! Am I ready? Not yet… but I will be! Every donation, big or small, helps Calling Education continue its important work and create opportunities for learners to build a brighter future. If you believe in the power of education too, I’d love for you to be part of this journey with me. Thank you for your support!

Calling Cape Town was started by passionate South Africans set on tackling one of the country’s biggest challenges - giving the majority of its children access to quality education.
Every athlete and volunteer takes on the challenge to raise funds for Calling Education, which has proven that you can run an independent high school delivering top-quality education for around R8,000 a year - from 60 learners in 2018 to more than 700 across three campuses today.
