About Heidi De Jager

I’m a runner, a mom of three, and an educator who believes every child deserves the chance to learn, grow and thrive.

My story

As a mom of three, I know how deeply we want the best for our children. To give them opportunities, a good education and the chance to build a better future. That’s why I’m taking on the Calling Cape Town Challenge 2027. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to be a parent who wants to give your children the bare necessities, but simply can’t. I want to use the miles I run to help make a difference where I can. Every donation, no matter how small, can help create opportunities for a child who needs them. In March 2027, I’ll run the Three Peaks Challenge with my relay team. Running the miles to help make the impact. #MilesForMinds

The Cause

We don't race for medals. We race so a generation of South African children can learn.

Calling Academy learners in school uniform on the sports field

Calling Cape Town was started by passionate South Africans set on tackling one of the country’s biggest challenges - giving the majority of its children access to quality education.

Every athlete and volunteer takes on the challenge to raise funds for Calling Education, which has proven that you can run an independent high school delivering top-quality education for around R8,000 a year - from 60 learners in 2018 to more than 700 across three campuses today.

More about Calling Education

700+: Learners now enrolled across three campuses
R8k: A year in school fees — low cost, top quality
2018.: Founded in Stellenbosch with just 60 learners
