About Ivan Boonzaaier
I’m taking on the grueling 167km Calling Cape Town extreme triathlon to raise vital funds for Calling Education. Growing up as one of six kids, resources were tight, but my family always found a way to ensure we had enough to get by. That upbringing, combined with my lifelong passion for sports, taught me the power of grit, teamwork, and community. Now, looking at my own daughter, I deeply appreciate how critical a quality education is to a child’s future. No child should be left behind just because they lack basic school support, clothing, or books. I am pushing my physical limits from sea to summit to help provide low-cost, high-quality schooling for vulnerable children in South Africa. Every athlete and volunteer takes on the challenge to raise funds for Calling Education, which has proven that you can run an independent high school delivering top-quality education for around R8,000 a year - from 60 learners in 2018 to more than 700 across three campuses today.
