About Ilka
A little too fond of type 2 fun, big challenges and being outdoors. This time, putting it all to good use for something bigger than myself.
My story
I’ve always found freedom, joy and growth in being outdoors and pushing my body beyond what I thought was possible. I love challenging myself, stepping outside my comfort zone and discovering how far I can grow. But this time, I want that drive to mean something bigger than myself. I’m taking part in the Calling Cape Town Challenge to use something I love to help create opportunities for children who deserve the chance to learn, grow and discover what they are capable of. Every child deserves access to quality education and the opportunity to dream big in a world full of possibilities. This challenge is about pushing myself physically while helping create a future where more children have the opportunity to push themselves too. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps make a difference. Thank you for being part of this journey and helping me turn this challenge into something meaningful.

Calling Cape Town was started by passionate South Africans set on tackling one of the country’s biggest challenges - giving the majority of its children access to quality education.
Every athlete and volunteer takes on the challenge to raise funds for Calling Education, which has proven that you can run an independent high school delivering top-quality education for around R8,000 a year - from 60 learners in 2018 to more than 700 across three campuses today.
