Just a dude with virtually no prior athletic history who had an existential crisis. Decided I'll do something real for something that matters. Taking my film camera with.

My story

On 14 March 2027, I'm going to attempt the Calling Cape Town challenge. I aim to raise funds to put five learners through a full year at Calling Academy, a nonprofit organisation that provides top quality education to low income learners. That's R40,000. Over the total 167 km, that's R240 per kilometre that I swim, cycle, and run. Sponsor half a kilometre, a kilometre, or as many as you like, and I'll swim, cycle, and run my guts out. Deep, dark ocean water scares me. I, honestly, don't enjoy cycling. And throughout the long hours of running, I'll be in more pain than I've ever been before. And, while I'm at it, I'll take some film photos. P.S. All donations are tax deductible. There's a Section 18A toggle on the donation form.

Calling Cape Town was started by passionate South Africans set on tackling one of the country’s biggest challenges - giving the majority of its children access to quality education.

Every athlete and volunteer takes on the challenge to raise funds for Calling Education, which has proven that you can run an independent high school delivering top-quality education for around R8,000 a year - from 60 learners in 2018 to more than 700 across three campuses today.
